Late Registration at 9 AM
Part of the Tri-Town Gymkhana Series
Entry form download coming soon
Please note that there is an early
registration discount and you can save $$$ by pre- registering for all
three of the Tri Town Gymkhana Events!. Please note there are new
divisions this year. Leadline is for the rider that is new at this and
is expected to be on a lead line at a walk. Trot is allowed only in
timed events “heading home.” Beginner Walk/Trot is for the horse/pony
and rider who are ready to walk and or trot off the leadline. A five
second penalty will be added for cantering more than 3 strides.
Intermediate is for the rider or horse who feel that a trot or a slow
canter is the fastest they can go. Junior Expert is for the rider &
horse who are ready to go fast but not all out. Expert is for the
rider & horse who are ready to go for the glory. No matter what
classification, all children will receive a ribbon in this gymkhana!
Absolutely no alcohol allowed. Anybody with alcohol will be
disqualified and their registration fee will be considered a donation
to the gymkhana. Please remember that this is a family event. We want a
safe, fun day.
In fairness to the beginners, if you have a horse
that will be entered in the Beginner classes and a horse that will be
entered into another class, you will have to choose one class for the
points that will be used towards the Grand Champion and Reserve
Champion awards. All other classes will have points given to the horse
and rider combination. Fouls (knocking over poles/barrels) and going
off course result in a 5 second penalty UNLESS the off course is
immediately (before the next obstacle) reconciled. Dropped objects must
be picked up.

Class Descriptions
Egg and Spoon - Riders hold an egg on a spoon at walk/trot/canter depending on division....last one with an egg wins.
Mint Julep - Riders will hold a cup of colored water, and be asked to walk/trot/canter depending on division. Rider with most Mint Julep left wins.
Stall Bending Four Poles are placed on the ground and riders must weave through the poles as fast as they can and come back through to the finish line. Each pole stepped on gets a 5 second penalty.
Leadline - Kids from the audience get to do a class on a leadline, using participant's horses and helmets.
Pole Bending - Riders weave around 5 poles and then head for the finish line for the fastest time. (Pattern will vary with divisions)
Off Course can be picked up where lost.
Big T Weave - Riders weave through 3 poles then do a figure 8 around 2 barrels then back through the poles to the finish line.
Barrel Racing - Riders do a cloverleaf pattern around 3 barrels and race for home. (This class is used as the tie breaker if necessary in a division.)
Keyhole - Riders run through two poles placed on ground and around a barrel and back through the poles to the finish line.
(Five second penalty for stepping on or outside of the poles.)
Sit-A-Buck - A dollar bill (provided by the rider) is placed under rider's leg by the ring steward. Riders are asked to walk trot and canter depending on division and last one holding their buck is the winner of all the $$.
Would you like to sponsor a class for this event? For only $10 or $25 for all three Gymkhanas in the Tri-Town Series, Yankee Doodle Days on July 24, heath fair on August 21 and Rowe fall Gymkhana on Sept. 18. Sponsorship helps defray the costs and keeps entry fees down. Please note which class you would prefer to sponsor and include in the total. Sponsorships help support this series.
Classes may be added or subtracted/combined if necessary by the event management. Bring your lawn chairs and friends to come and watch.
This event's focus is fun and safety, although it is a competition, good sportsmanship makes everyone a winner. We ask that all riders under the age of 18 wear a helmet at all times when mounted.
